Q

Prior to commencement of water onto energized components the IC MUST DETERMINE the max voltage from con ed white hat .. What are the safe distances

A

15 feet on live 138kv electrical components for 30 degree or greater fog streams

75 feet on live 138kv electrical components for all straight or solid streams and streams less than 30 degree fog. Distance equal to approximate one and half lengths of hose

25 feet on live 345kv electrical components for 30 degree or greater fog streams..approximately 1/2 length hose

125 feet on live 345kv electrical components for all straight or solid streams and streams less than 30 degree fog… Approximately 2 1/2 lengths

Q

When using the TL to apply water to energized equipment at a con ed facility the following procedure shall be adhered to

A
  1. Clear all sediment from water supply by flushing hydrant throughly before connecting to pumper
  2. Type of tip used is based on ability to stream to reach target area
  3. Waterway of TL must be flushed away from point of operation until, water clear
  4. Attach selected tip to basket mounted stang. If using turbo master nozzle set desired stream pattern. Then basket mounted stand set to desired angle and locked into place
  5. Safe operating position is determined in conjunction with con ed personnel. Once determined all members removed from basket and basket then raised into operating position. All members are then removed from apparatus. Then stream applied to target area
  6. If stream not reaching intended target then water supply shut down at pumper and position of basket angle and or pattern of stream adjusted. Once repositioned and all members off apparatus water is again supplied to TL
