Adminstrative responsibilities for cell phone cites
- Notify battalion, division and all first alarm units by telephone them follow up by written memo
- Adminstrative company does on site inspection and evaluate the cell site
3 administrative company do CIDS and forward to battalion FP coordinator
Comply with FP INSPECTION BULLETIN IF NECESSARY
Antennas on cell phone towers may not extend higher than
6 feet above the height of the roof or parapet on the roof
6 feet above any penthouse or bulkhead if placed on penthouse or bulkhead
When making cids card for cell phone cites administrative co should include what info on cids
- Location of cell site room
- Backup power supply locations
- Shut offs
- Emergency telephone number of cell phone company
Four major components of cell phone cites
- Base station . Computer that process the radio signals
- Primary electrical power for cell sites btwn 50 and 200 amps AC
Will be separate from building service . Secondary will consist of batteries, diesel generator or natural gas generator or combo battery generator - Coaxial cable is radio frequency cable carries 3-4 watts of current
- Multiple transmitting receiving antennas on upper portion of roof
Two. Type of installations , roof mounted and interior
Roof mounted - base station found in an am equipment closet or separate room
Usually in addition to existing structure
Usually installed on I beams
Interior .. Usually in cellar or basement and may be found on any floor
If the cell site installation is involved in fire transmit
Extra engine and truck
Insure TL response on initial alarm
If a building does not permit for an installation of a cell phone site than you should

RED - High Voltage Wire
ORANGE -Low voltage wiring
YELLOW - natural gas piping
Other gas piping - yellow labeled at regular intervals with type of gas
Yellow with black stripes- Fuel oil piping
How shall transmitter antennas be ID on roof
Affixing to antenna the antenna mounting or conspicuous location near antenna continuos durable and weatherproof reflective or luminescent markings and 3 inch lettering that reads “TRANSMITTER”
A 24 hour/7 day a week telephone number by which owner of installation can be ID SHALL be posted
Conspicuously on or near any equipment closet or base station or similar telecommunications antenna installation
