Arrhythmias Flashcards
Supraventricular arrhythmias
A flutter
A fib
Sinus tachy
Ventricular arrhythmias
Premature ventricular contractions (PVC)
Ventricular tachy
A flutter vs a fib
A flutter is more organized and regular than a fib
-a flutter often leads to a fib
A fib
Results from multiple waves of electrical impulses in the atria, resulting in an irregular (usually rapid) ventricular response. Atria are unable to adequately contract, leading to blood stagnation (clot risk)
Rate control drugs for A fib
BBs or non-DHP CCBs, sometimes digoxin
If afib is permanent, avoid _______ drugs
Rhythm control
Antiarrythmics Class 1a
Disopyramide, Quinidine, Procainamide
Antiarrythmics Class 1b
Lidocaine, mexiletine
Antiarrythmics Class 1c
Flecainide, propafenone
Antiarrythmics Class 2
BBs
Antiarrythmics Class 3
Dronedarone, dofetilide, sotalol, ibutilide, amiodarone
Antiarrythmics Class 4
Verapamil, diltiazem
