What is the anterior view?
Face on view
What is the posterior view?
View from behind
What is the anatomical position?
Face forward with eyes and toes pointing in the same direction, put your arms by your side with the palms facing forward, put your lower limbs close together with your feet parallel to each other
What is the sagittal plane?
Cut down the middle into left and right
What is the Coronal plane?
cut down the middle into front and back
What is the transverse plane?
cut horizontally
What is inferior?
Below
What is superior?
Above
What is medial?
Towards the body (ulnar)
What is lateral?
Away from the body (radial)
How would you say a structure is on the same side?
Ipsilateral
How would you say a structure is on opposite sides?
Contralateral
What is Flexion?
Movement that decreases the angle between two body parts
What is extension?
Movement that increases the angle between two body parts
What is abduction?
Movement away from midline
What is adduction?
Movement towards midline
What is circumduction?
movement in a circle- flexion, extension, abduction and adduction
What is supination?
rotation of forearm and hand so palm faces upwards
What is pronation?
Rotation of forearm and hand so palm faces downwards
What is opposition?
The thumb and finger comes face to face
What is Reposition?
When the finger and thumb go back to normal positions
What is Dorsiflexion?
Bending of the foot superior
What is plantar flexion?
Bending of the foot inferior
What is Eversion?
Bending of the foot lateral
What is inversion?
Bending of the foot medial
