Adult Traumatic Arrest Flashcards
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Initial rhythm asystole
Withhold resuscitation
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Blunt mechanism of injury?
Suspected Pneumo bilateral needle decompression
Suspected pelvic injury - Pelvic Binder
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Penetrating chest injury with/without PEA
Suspect tension pneumothorax and consider bilateral needle decompression
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Post decompression with no ROSC and Transport > 15 min
Mandatory OLMC if PEA, otherwise consider withholding resuscitation
Adult Traumatic Arrest - > 15 min transport
Mandatory OLMC if PEA, otherwise consider withholding resuscitation
Adult Traumatic Arrest - < 15 min transport
Treat as per appropriate arrest protocol
20 ml/kg bolus prn pressure infused
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Patient presenting with PEA
May have organized electrical activity with profound hypotension
Adult Traumatic Arrest - SMR and C-collar placement are contraindication in?
All isolated penetrating trauma
Adult Traumatic Arrest - SMR must not delay what?
Transport, SMR can be completed enroute
Adult Traumatic Arrest - bilateral needle decompression is appropriate when?
Any trauma patient in PEA
Adult Traumatic Arrest - In pregnant patients greater than 20 weeks gestation
Tilt or rotate backboard 20-30 degrees to the patient’s left or use manual left uterine displacement
Fluid resuscitation requirements are significantly greater
Adult Traumatic Arrest - Post decompression with no ROSC and Transport < 15 min
Treat as per appropriate arrest protocol, 20 ml/kg bolus prn
