Ativan 1 mg SL q 5 min to max of 4 mg
Adult ETOH Withdrawal - Suspected dehydration treatment
20 ml/kg bolus x 1

Treat with appropriate protocol

LORazepam 1 mg SL q 5 min prn to a max of 4 mg

Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
Acute narrow-angle glaucoma
Adult ETOH Withdrawal - Minor ETOH withdrawal onset
Onset between 12-18 hours, peaks 24-48 hours
Adult ETOH Withdrawal - S/S of minor withdrawal
Temperature > 38.5°C Systolic BP > 160 mmHg Diastolic BP > 110 mmHg Pulse > 110 bpm Nausea and vomiting Tremors Diaphoresis
Adult ETOH Withdrawal - Major ETOH withdrawal onset & duration
Begins within 3 to 5 days,
Peaking on days 4 and 5
May persist 3 days to 7 weeks
