Falls rapidly = 2
Adult Stroke - BGL 3 or less
D50W 12.5 g IV
Adult Stroke - Transport to stroke centre for these criteria
Red finding < 6 hr or awoke with symptoms
Adult Stroke - D50W indication
Stroke with symptomatic hypoglycemia
Adult Stroke - D50W dose
12.5 g SIVP/IO
Consider additional 12.5 g D50W if BGL remains < 3.0 mmol/L

Allergy to corn or corn products
Adult Stroke - D50W Precautions
Ensure patency of IV site after half of dose is administered
The maximum clinical effect from IV Dextrose is 5 minutes
