Explain visceral pain?
- distension, inflammation or ischaemia in hollow vicious and solid organs
- dull poorly localised and perceived in the middle
- embryological origin
Explain parietal pain?
- localised to the dermatome above the site of the stimulus
Explain referred pain?
- produces symptoms but not signs
- well localised but felt in distant areas of the same cutaneous dermatome
