Types of hypertrophy
A
Physiological
→ Uterus (pregnancy), mammary glands (lactation), muscles (exercise).
Pathological
→ Due to increased workload (e.g., heart valve defects, narrowed orifices).
Compensatory→ One paired organ enlarges to compensate (e.g., kidney, liver, testis).
Correlation-type → Endocrine gland enlargement due to metabolic disorders (e.g., parathyroid in hypocalcemia).
