Who shall be responsible for:
- Overall administration of TFD’s Chemical Hazard Communication Program
- Maintaining a master list of all MSDS’s used in TFD stations and facilities
- Ensuring that TFD stations and facilities are able to acquire MSDS as needed
- Maintaining this document
The Administrative Battalion Chief for Safety or his/her designee.
Who shall be responsible for:
- Maintaining up-to-date information on hazardous chemicals and/or materials used in his/her station or facility
- Ensuring hazardous chemicals and materials are properly labeled
- Ensuring that hazardous chemicals and materials are used in accordance with the guidelines set forth in this document
- Ensuring TFD personnel under his/her supervision are properly trained and/or supervised when new hazardous chemicals and/or materials are introduced
TFD Station Captains and Facility Supervisors.
Each hazardous chemical or material used in a TFD station or facility shall be labeled as follows:
a. Contents
b. Proper hazard warning
c. Name and address of manufacturer
When hazardous chemicals and/or materials are transferred into a new container, the labeling from the original container shall be transferred to the new container.
When ordering a new hazardous chemical or material, request ______ copies of the MSDS.

a. Place one copy in the Station/Facility MSDS notebook.
b. Update the inventory at the front of the MSDS notebook.
c. Forward a copy of the new MSDS to the TFD Safety Office.

- Click on “Safety” under the Support Services Bureau on the left hand side of the web page
- Click on “MSDS” under the heading “MSDS Access”
- Follow the prompts to search by product, location or supplier
