Patrol units will not be dispatched on “routine” 421 calls unless responding medical personnel request them. “Routine” 421 call include
- injuries from falls or accidents

- accidental overdose

- Respond to the scene (unless death appears natural)
- Confirm with patrol death is not suspicious or the result of a homicide
- Ensures CSA have been requested on all suicides, overdoses, and other deaths
- Ensure deputy coroner has been requested
- Ensures dead body incident report is complete and detailed

- death of a person of media interest
- LVMPD employee or family member
Do deaths that are not suspicious, result of a suicide, or overdose require a notification to homicide?
