Status Bar
The left side of the Status Bar displays mouse button shortcuts and the keymap of the active
tool. In editors with a Toolbar, tapping Alt (or Option on macOS) shows the hotkeys to change
to a desired tool.
Keymap Information
The right side of the Status Bar displays information about the Blender instance. Which information is shown can be chosen by RMB on the Status Bar or in the Preferences.
Resource Information
The Blender window is divided into a
number of rectangles. Reserve screen space for Editors, such as the 3D Viewport or the
Outliner. Each editor offers a specific
piece of functionality.
Areas
Every Editor in Blender is divided into _____ and can have smaller structuring elements like
tabs and panels with buttons, controls and widgets placed within them.
Regions
At least one region is always visible. It is called the _____ and is the most prominent part of the
editor.
Main Region
Resizing regions works by dragging
their border, the same way as Areas.
To hide a region, resize it down to
nothing. A hidden region leaves a little
arrow sign. LMB on this icon to make
the region reappear.
Changing the Size and Hiding
is a small horizontal strip, which sits either at the top or bottom of an area. All editors have a

Grid Floor:
The gray cube in the center of the scene is a mesh object. Its ORANGE outline indicates that it’s selected. TheORANGE dot in the center is its Origin, which indicates its precise location.
Cube:
The default mode, available for all object types. Allows
editing position, rotation and scale, duplicating objects, and so on.Supports basic operations such as object creation, joining objects, managing shape
keys, and UV/color layers.
Object Modes
A mode for editing an object’s shape (vertices/edges/faces
for meshes, control points for curves/surfaces,
points/strokes for Grease Pencil, etc.).
Edit Mode
Provides an alternative toolset for editing an object’s shape
(only for meshes).

To be able to work in the three-dimensional space that Blender uses, you must be able to change your viewpoint as
well as the viewing direction of the scene. While we will describe the 3D Viewport editor, most of the other editors
have similar functions. For example, it is possible to pan and zoom in the Image editor.

Pan the 3D Viewport
Refers to the 3D ____, a point in the 3D space that serves as a reference or pivot for various operations. The 3D ___can be placed in the scene to dictate where new objects will be added or to specify the pivot point for transformations.
Cursor
Allows users to select objects or vertices within a rectangular area on the viewport. Commonly used to select multiple items at once by clicking and dragging the mouse
Select Box
Enables users to move objects, vertices, or other elements along the X, Y, and Z axes. By pressing the ‘G’ key,
Move(g)
Allows users to rotate objects or elements around a specific pivot point. Pressing the ‘R’ key
Rotate(R)
Adjusts the size of objects or elements by scaling them up or down along the X, Y, and Z axes. The ‘S’ key is used
Scale (S)
Combines Move, Rotate, and Scale into a single tool for more versatile manipulation of objects.
Transform
Allows users to draw annotations or notes directly onto the 3D viewport. Useful for marking areas of interest or providing visual notes for collaboration,
Annotate
Provides a way to calculate distances or angles between points in the scene. helps users accurately gauge dimensions within their projects, improving precision in modeling.
Measure
Inserts a default cube object into the scene at the location of the 3D cursor. Commonly used as a starting point for various modeling tasks, accessible through the ‘Add’ menu or by pressing ‘Shift + A’
