The requirement for food, clothes and shelter. The need to earn an income to survive and have reasonable working conditions.
Outline safety needs.
The need for security and freedom from danger and anxiety.
Outline social needs.
The desire for friendship, love and a sense of belonging aka getting along with your co-workers.
Outline esteem needs
The need to have self respect from others - the need for positive feedback.
Outline self actualisation
The need to fulfil ones potential through actions and achievements.
What was maslows belief about self actualisation?
That workers would never achieve it, and workers would always strive to develop further and achieve more.
Which needs are more important?
The lower needs of the hierarchy.
What do we need to remember about the hierarchy?
Higher needs cannot be met before lower needs are met.
