An aqueous film is formed on a conventional hydrocarbon fuel, or a polymeric membrane is formed on a polar solvent fuel. This film or membrane forms a barrier to help prevent the release of fuel vapor.
Regardless of fuel type, a foam blanket is formed that excludes oxygen and drains the liquids and in turn forms the film or polymeric membrane.
The water content of the foam produces a cooling effect.
Class B Foam
has an Akron 95 GPM Truck Foam System. This is a single discharge inline eductor style foam delivery system dedicated to the front bumper line. This style eductor is supplied at 200psi with a maximum hose lay of 350’ @ 1% and 250’ @ 3%. The eductor is rated at 95GPM making the Akron Assault Firefighting Nozzle non- compatible with this system. Foam application with this system should be accomplished by utilizing the JS-10 air-aspirating foam nozzle with the Akron bail/shutoff.
