- Anne of Beaujeau acted as regent for Charles VIII of France and wanted control of Brittany. She wanted Anne of Brittany and Charles to get married, as Duke Francis had no male heir
- Henry gave Brittany the unofficial aid of 500 men and apologised to France to keep good terms

- France re-implemented trading restrictions due to the Breton support

France defeated the Breton allied forces at Aubin du Corbier

Henry asked parliament for a grant for a war in France

- Treaty of Redon: Henry sent 6000 troops to defend Brittany, Anne said she would pay for the troops and form no marriage alliances.
- Treaty of Dordrecht: Henry agreed to send 3000 troops to help Maximilian relieve a garrison under French forces

- Treaty of Medina del Campo: Henry and Spain agreed to go to war against France to recover Normandy, Guyenne and Acquitaine. Catherine of Aragon and Arthur marry. Equal trading rights for both countries. Spain’s troops were removed as they focused on the Moors.
