• acetyl-CoA (2C) joins with oxaloacetate(4C) to create a 6 carbon molecule called cictric acid
• Two carbons are removed from the chain, each to form CO2
• makes 3 NADH
• makes 1 ATP
• makes 1 FADH
• reforms to make oxaloacetate
