Q

Why are the properties of the cell membrane not adequately explained by the presence of lipids alone in their structure?

A

Cell membrane has the ability to do cell signaling, lipids do not have this ability but proteins do

Q

xplain why a cell membrane is a dynamic structure, rather than static such as the wall of a building.

A

The cell membrane has a fluid mosaic model that allows for fluidity and movement, lipid bilayer, and protein movement. All that are abilities that would not be able to be provided if it was a wall of a building

Q

Explain why it is beneficial for a cell to use enzymes that work best at an acidic pH inside lysosomes.

A

if an enzyme were to fall out, then the acidity works as a safety guard because then the enzymes are less likely to break down the parts of the living cell Because it would become neutral and inactive
