Yr 11 - Physics Flashcards
Define speed
The rate of motion of an object.
Speed equation
V = d/t - m/s⁻¹
Define acceleration
The rate of change of velocity per unit of time
Acceleration equation
a = ∆V/t - m/s⁻²
Define force
Amount of energy exerted on an object
Force equation for side to side
F = m*a - Newton(N)
Force equation for up and down
F = m*g - Newton(N)
Define mass and gravity
mass is the amount of matter an object has and weight is the gravity * mass
Define pressure
The force acting on a unit area of a surface
Pressure equation
P = F/a(area) - Pa (pascal)
Define gravitational potential
Energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitational field
Gravitational potential energy equation
EpG = mass * gravity * height - joules(J)
Define kinetic energy
Energy an object possesses because of its motion
Kinetic energy equation
EpK = 0.5 * mass * velocity² - Joules(J)
Mass equation
m = 2*Ek/v² - Joules(J)
