no response to centralised stimuli- sternal rub
no motor withraw or facial grimice to painful stimuli
pupils fixed and dialted
no carotid pulse
no breath sounds for 2 minutes
no heart sounds for 2 minutes

what things are on an advanced care directive?

current major health problems
what matters most about life, worries about future, aceptable putcomes after ilness, values, people wanted involved in care, imporant things nearning death, organ donation, treatments consented to and refused
what does the last year of a patients life typically look like?
pts with advanced disease may have 8 hospital admissions in the last year of their life
what is done when planning ahead for death? what are the advanatges?
legal, finical and healthr realted decisions for people to make
Advanates- clear communication, wishes are known, support people are confident and can decreases disagreetments between family memebers
what is a medical treatment decision maker?
A person can nominate a trusted relative/friend to manage their health if they are no longer able to make decisions
they can consent to or refuse treatment on the pts behalf - making decsions they belive the person woulf make if they could make their own decisions
what is an advanced care directive?
pt records specific preferences for future healthcare
- only used if capacity to make or communicate decisons are compromised after completion of the form
must have capacity to complete the form
what is an instruction directive?
Advanced care directive -
legally binding instructions about future medical treatment that the person consents to or refuses
- for sepcific mental treatment
HCW bounded to follow the instructions
what is a values directive?
document the persons values and preferences for their medical treatment decision maker to consider when they are making decisions for them
