Ethics (provide example)
Helps us decide whats morally right and wrong. It focuses on doing whats right
Ex: reporting workplace abuse rather than turning a blind eye
Values (provide examples)
Person’s standards of behaviour. Focuses on what’s important
Ex: honesty, respect, empathy
Attitudes (provide example)
Reflected in someone’s behaviour. Thinking or feeling about someone or something
Ex: having a positive attitude towards challenges
Beliefs (provide example)
Assumptions about the world that may or may not be true. Easier to verbalize
Ex: believing in the importance of environmental conservation or the fact that everyone deserves equal rights
What influences ethics and beliefs?
Experiences, situational, individual values
Overt values (provide example)
Explicitly communicated and embraced by society
Ex: equality for everyone
Covert values (provide example)
Implied but not in writing. Showing feeling without saying it. Not openly acknowledged and sort of hidden
Ex: Personal space - unspoken expectation of a certain distance
