What is health behaviour?
Actions or choices individuals make that affect their health
Name all 4 models
Trans theoretical model, social-ecological model, protection motivation theory, health belief model
Social ecological model
Different influences that shape behaviour (education, profession, social support, environment, public policies)
Ex: surrounding yourself with friends who smoke may lead you to smoking
Protection motivation theory
How people respond to threats or risks to their health and well being
Ex: fear of illness, physical decline, of death
Health belief model
More likely to take action to prevent or address health issue if they believe their susceptible, believe problem has serious consequences, believe action will be beneficial
What are all the steps of the trans theoretical model?
Pre contemplation, contemplation, action, maintenance and termination
