Regulated Health Professions Act
Mandatory reporting (if nurse comes in drunk, you must report it) and find a nurse
sets out the framework (rules, guidelines) of the entire profession, there are controlled acts
Rules and guidelines include education, practice, ethics, professional conduct
Controlled acts
Tasks that must be performed only by those authorized to perform them.
Controlled acts are considered to be harmful if performed by unqualified individuals
Delegation
Authority to perform a controlled act is transferred to another person (unregulated care provider)
Protocols for delegation
Must have shared responsibility (delegator and delegatee)
Must be clearly defined and supervised accordingly
