Adrenalectomy
Surgical Removal of an adrenal gland
Cystectomy
Surgical Removal of the bladder (usually only done partially)
DMSA renal scan
Dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan that shows kidney anatomy and function.
DRE
Digital rectal exam.
EMG
Electromyography; test to assess the health of muscles and the nerves that control them.
ESWL
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy; uses sound waves to break up stones such as renal calculi or gallstones.
Hemodialysis
Dialysis method involving dedicated IV access (via an A/V shunt or prosthesis) to filter the blood via machines
Hydronephrosis
Swelling of the kidney due to fluid backup
Intravasicular
Inside the bladder
IVP
Intravenous pyelogram; X-Ray with IV contrast to evaluate the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.
Kegel Exercises
Exercise of repetitive contractions of the pelvic floor muscles to strengthen them
KUB
X-ray of kidneys, ureters, and bladder used to look for stones
LUTS
Lower urinary tract symptoms (urgency, frequency, dysuria, leakage/dribbling, incomplete bladder emptying, difficulty urinating, recurrent UTIs)
Nephrectomy
Surgical removal of a kidney, can be done in partial
Nephrolithiasis
Stone in the kidney, usually found in the renal pelvis
