When would you check a patient’s PSA and perform a digital rectal exam?
- Lower urinary tract symptoms
- Erectile dysfunction
- Visible haematuria
What should you do with a patient with a raised PSA?
Urgent referral (within 2 weeks)
When would you refer someone with visible haematuria for urgent assessment for bladder (or renal) cancer?
45 years and over
AND
unexplained visible haematuria without UTI
OR
visible haematuria persisting after successful UTI treatment
When would you refer someone with non-visible haematuria for urgent assessment for bladder cancer?
60 and over AND unexplained non-visible haematuria AND either dysuria or raised WCC
What would cause you to put in a non-urgent bladder cancer referral?
Patient 60 and over with recurrent or persistent unexplained UTI
When would you consider an urgent referral for testicular cancer?
Non-painful enlargement or change in shape or texture of the testis
