What conditions are associated with perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (pANCA)?
eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis
microscopic polyangiitis
(may also be cANCA positive)
What conditions are associated with cytoplasmic anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (cANCA)?
granulomatosis with polyangiitis
(may also be pANCA positive)
What is the difference between EGPA and GPA?
GPA - triad of predominantly ENT symptoms, LRT symptoms and golmerulonephritis (haematuria and often rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis)
EGPA - asthma, eosinophilia
What is the common acute treatment of ANCA vasculitis?
Cyclophosphamide and high dose steroids (more complicated that this but probs don’t need to know it)
What antibody treatment can be used second line in ANCA vasculitis?
Rituximab (anti-CD20 on B cells)
