Psychological disorder
Extreme inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity
ADHD
Psychological disorders have physical causes that can be diagnosed, treated, and cured with treatment in the hospital
Medical Model
Distressed but can think and function rationally
Neurotic disorder
Loses contact with reality, irrational ideas and distorted perceptions
Psychotic disorder
System used to diagnose and classify psychological disorders

Distressing, persistent anxiety or dysfunctional anxiety reducing behavior
Anxiety disorder
A person is continually tense, apprehensive, and in a state of autonomic nervous system arousal
Generalized anxiety disorder
Unpredictable minutes-long episodes of intense dread and behavior
Panic disorder
Persistent, irrational fear of and avoidance of a specific object, activity or situation
Phobia
Fear of avoidance of situations in which escape might be hard or unavailable
Agoraphobia
Positive psychological changes after facing challenges and life crisis
Post traumatic growth
An accumulation of supplies that are hidden from others

Somatic disorder
Person experiences very specific genuine physical symptoms for which no physiological basis can be found
Conversion disorder
A person interprets a normal physical sensations as symptoms of a disease
Hypochondriasis (illness anxiety disorder)
Conscious awareness becomes separated from previous memories, thoughts, and feelings
Dissociative disorder
Person exhibits 2 or more distinct and alternating personalities
Dissociative identity disorder
Person experiences without drugs a feeling of depressed moods, worthlessness, and diminished interest or pleasure in activities
Major depressive disorder
Mood disorder marked by a hyperactive, wildly optimistic state
Mania
The person alternates between lethargy of depression and hopelessness and overexcited state of mania
Bipolar disorder
Psychological disorders characterized by emotional extremes
Mood disorders
False beliefs, often of persecution or grandeur, that may accompany psychotic disorders
Delusions
A group of severe disorders characterized by disorganized and delusional thinking, disturbed perceptions, and inappropriate thoughts and actions
Schizophrenia
Remaining motionless for hours and then become agitated
Catatonia
Severe reduction in emotional expressiveness
Flat affect
Inflexible and enduring behavior that impair social functioning
Personality disorder
The person exhibits a lack of conscience for wrongdoing even towards family and friends
