Typical Graphs for Rate of Reaction Flashcards
What is the quickest reaction shown by?
The line that becomes flat in the least time
The line that flattens out first must have the….
Steeped slope compared to all the others, making it possible to spot the slowest and fastest reaction
See graph page 54
Ok
What does graph 1 represent?
The original fairly slow reaction - graph isn’t too steep
What do graphs 2 and 3 represent?
The reaction taking place quicker but with the same initial amounts - slope gets steeper
What things could the increased rate be due to?
Increase in temp
Increase in conc
Catalyst added
Solid reactant crushed into smaller bits
Graphs 1, 2 and 3 all converge at the same level, showing…
They all produce the same amount of product, but take different times to get there
What does graph 4 do and how can this only happen?
Produces more product as well as going faster - only happen if more reactants are added at the start
