Alkenes Have a C=C Double Bond Flashcards
1
Q
What are Alkenes?
A
Hydrocarbons which have a double bond between two of the carbon atoms in their chain
2
Q
Why are they unsaturated molecules?
A
Because they can make more bonds - double bond opens up, allowing two carbon atoms to bond with other atoms
3
Q
What are the first three alkenes?
A
Ethene (two c atoms), propene (three c atoms) and butene (four c atoms)
4
Q
All alkenes have the same general formula, which is?
A
CnH2n +2
