What is leisure travel ?
Tourists travelling for their own pleasure and enjoyment or to take a relaxing holiday. They could also be travelling for a special event.
What type of holiday is leisure travel?
Holidays planned by tourists themselves and cruises are also classed as leisure travel.
What is a common form of leisure travel ?
A short break / trip away. For example travelling to London , Paris etc.
What are some examples of corporate travel ?
To attend a conference , to go to a meeting , training / deliver training to other people , work in another geographical location.
What is specialist travel ?
Travelling for a particular reason.
What are some examples of specialist travel ?
Adventure , health , education , heritage or culture , conservation , sustainable tourism etc
What type of tourists are VFR tourists ?
Domestic , inbound or outbound tourists depending on their place of departure and arrival.
What does VFR stand for ?
Visiting friends and relatives.
How long do VFR tourists tend to stay for ?
Quite a long time compared to other types of tourists with some staying for an average of 10 nights.
What are some examples of day trips ?
Visiting a city to go shopping or to go to a specific event , going to a visitor attraction, going to the countryside for a walk / relaxation / activities.
