Businesses that put together all the different components / parts that make up a holiday and selling them as a complete package holiday to customers.
What is a positive / advantage to modern brochures being online ?
It saves tour operators the cost of postal distribution and printing.
Who do tour operators make contracts with ?
Airlines, hoteliers (person who owns / manages a hotel), other transport companies.
Why did the1970’s see a major growth in package holidays ?
People were wealthier and travelling became more affordable.
What is the aim of mass market tour operators and an example of one ?
Their aim is to sell large numbers of similar holidays in packages that appeal to a majority of holiday makers and make a small amount of profit on each sale. e.g. TUI
What are the roles of tailor made / dynamic package holidays and what is an example of one ?
Where customers build their own holiday by selecting the different parts / components separately and any part of the holiday can be customised. They can be made online or through a travel agent. e.g. Expedia.
What are the roles of special interest tour operators and what is an example of one ?
They specialise in selling specific holidays to particular destinations / particular activities. e.g. Olympic Holidays.
What is the niche market ?
An area of the market where a specific product is focused.
