Develop and promote travel and tourism in order to boost countries economies and provide employment.
What is UNWTO and what is their role ?
United Nations World Tourism Organisation. It is responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism. 158 countries are part of this organisation.
What is UNWTO’s aims ?
To promote and ensure sustainable tourism, to educate and teach others, promoting tourism as a way to be able to reduce poverty and improve economic growth, researching and providing information about tourism, encouraging the development of sustainable tourism.
What is VisitBritain and what are it’s aims ?
It is Britain’s national tourist board and aims to market the UK internationally to increase the volume and value of inbound tourism and develop Britain as a tourism product.
What are the UK’s 4 tourist boards ?
VisitBritain, Tourism NI, VisitScotland, VisitWales.
What are DMO’s ?
Destination Management Organisations. co -ordinate the different parts / components that make up a tourist destination. DMO’s build up partnerships between separate tourism organisations within a destination making it more successful.
What are regional tourist boards ?
Tourist boards that promote destinations in a particular area. They work with local authorities and local enterprise partnership as well as the national tourist board.
