What is ATOL and what does it stand for ?
Air Travel Organisers License. It is used as a government protection scheme and any tour operator providing package holidays must be ATOL protected.
What is ABTA and what does it stand for ?
Association of British Travel Agents. Their website is filled with advice and guidance, re - assuring customers on their holidays. ABTA code of conduct means that you get what you paid / asked for.
What is CAA and what does it stand for ?
Civil Aviation Authority. It regulates UK aviation (aircrafts) and is an independent statutory (written law passed by the government) and issues ATOL’s to make sure that customers get their package holiday and all aspects involved. If the company goes bust then the government use a repatriation that allows customers to safely return to the country.
What do trade associations, government departments and regulatory bodies do ?
They determine tourism strategies and industry policies, provide information and support to their members and customers and lobby (influence) governments.
