What is serious injury
An injury for which a person is detained in hospital as an inpatient, or any of the following whether or not they’re detained in hospital
Burns
Fractures
Concussion
Section 1 road traffic act 1988- death by dangerous driving
A person who caused the death of another by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence
What is dangerously
Refers to the danger of either injury to any person or serious damage to property
What is dangerous
Can also relate to the state of the vehicle, or of anything attached to or carried by it
Instances of poor driving which support a prosecution for dangerous driving include
Racing or competitive sport
Unsafe overtaking
Aggressive or intimidatory driving
Section 1A road traffic act 1988- causing serious injury by dangerous driving
A person who causes serious injury to another person by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence
Section 2 road traffic act 1988- dangerous driving
A person who drives a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence
Section 2B road traffic act 1988- death by careless or inconsiderate driving
A person who causes the death of another person by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other person using the road or place is guilty of an offence
Section 3 road traffic act 1988- driving without due care and attention or reasonable consideration
If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other person using the road of place his is guilty of an offence
Section 35 offences against the person act 1861- wanton and furious driving
Whosoever having charge of any carriage or vehicle shall be wanton or furious driving or racing or other wilful misconduct or wilful neglect do or cause any bodily harm to any person whatsoever shall be guilty of an offence

Section 3A road traffic act 1988- causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs
He is within 18 hours after that time
Required to provide a specimen in pursuance of section 7 of the this act (RTA 1988), but without reasonable excuse fails to provide it
Or
He is required by a constable to give his permission for a laboratory test of a specimen of blood taken from him under section 7A of this act but without reasonable excuse fails to do so
He is guilty of an offence
