Define domestic abuse
Behaviour of a person A towards another person B is domestic abuse if
A & B are aged 16 or over and are personally connected to each other and the behaviour is abusive

Define high risk victim DASH model
There are identifiable indications of risk of serious
Can happen any time and impact would be serious
Risk which is life threatening and or traumatic
Define medium risk victim DASH Model
Offender has the potential to cause
Serious harm unlikely to do so unless change of circumstances
Standard risk victim DASH Model
Current evidence does not indicate likelihood of causing serious harm
Repeats victim
Someone who has reported two or more domestic abuse incidents to the police within 12 month Period
Repeat perpetrator
Someone who has been reported to the police as having committed or threatened domestic abuse against the same victim in 12 months
Serial perpetrator
Someone who has been reported to the police as having committed or threatened domestic abuse against two or more victims
Barriers to reporting
One off
Public humiliation
Not believed
Repeat victim- trauma bonds
People like other animals are conditioned to form bonds as a survival mechanism
Trauma bonding- a psychological phenomenon it’s real and a normal reaction to an abnormal situation
Stockholm syndrome
Positive feelings toward the victimiser
Negative feelings toward potential rescuer
