Define CSE
A form of child sexual abuse
It occurs where an individual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18 into sexual activity
(A) in exchanges for something they need or want & or
(B) for the financial advantage or increased status of the perpetrator or facilitator
The victim may have been sexually exploited even if the sexual activity consensual
What does CSE not include
Not always involving physical contact can also occur through use of technology
What is CSE
Child abuse
A power imbalance such as age, gender, strength, ect
Swapping sex for food, accommodation, ect
Violence, coercion and intimidation

A person who has sexual interest in child over 11 years of age

The children act 2004 defines a child as under 18 years
Children over 16 years can consent to sex
If under 18 years & involved in CSE, a child cannot give consent to their own absue
