What is a society
The aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community.
The community of people living in a particular region and having shared customs laws and organisations
Section 1(8) e police and crime commissioners
The chief constable is accountable for the effectiveness and Efficiency of engagement with local people
Section 14 arrangement for obtaining the views of the community of policing
States that the views of the people in the police area are to be sought in particular circumstances, namely before a police and crime commissioner or the mayor office for policing and crime issues a police and crime plan or precept
Section 17 duties when carrying out functions
An elected local policing body must have regard to the views of people in the body’s area about policing in the area

A chief officer must make arrangements for obtaining the views of people with each neighbourhood about crime and disorder and make arrangements for providing such people with information about policing in that neighbourhood
