- Killed bacteria.
- A toxin in harmless form.
- Antigen bearing fragment of the pathogen.
Attenuated Viruses
These viruses have have been weakened so they are harmless.
Killed bacteria
Bacteria that have been killed.
Toxin
A toxin that has been altered into a harmless form.
Antigen-bearing fragment
An antigen bearing fragment of the pathogen.
What do boosters ensure?
Lost lasting immunity
What are the benefits to the comminty when being vaccinated?
Protects not just the individual but also the community
Less likely that disease will be transferred from one person to the another.
Less disease in the community as a whole.
Means anyone who did not respond to vaccine or could not be given it is still protected.
This group protection is called herd immunity.
