Stable approach criteria?
By 1000 ft HAA:
1. Sink rate not greater than 1000 fpm;
2. Established on correct lateral vertical path, with only small changes to maintain.
3. Thrust setting appropriate to achieve and/or maintain the approach speed;
4. All briefings completed.
5. Configured with planned landing flap and gear down;
By 500 ft HAA:
1. Airspeed not more than speed target +10 kt and not less than speed target –5 kt;
2. Landing Checklist completed.
When to call not stable at or below 500ft?
- All checklists have not been completed; or
- The aircraft is not configured for the planned landing; or
- The PM observes a sustained exceedance of an approach tolerance; or
- The PF fails to correct the aircraft’s flight path following the calling of an approach tolerance or exceedance.
