How many portable oxygen bottles are located in cabin and how much oxygen will they supply?
5- two in front left of cabin and three in aft left side of cabin.
Each bottle supplies oxygen for about 65 minutes.
Where is the flight deck oxygen cylinder located?
Left side lower fuselage, forward of cabin door 1L
What does oxygen crew supply switch OFF control?
A supply solenoid downstream of pressure regulator, and is used to shutoff supply.
Where is the crew oxygen cylinder relief port and what does the green disc indicate?
Left forward side of aircraft exterior.
Green disc should be flush with exterior. If absent, indicates crew oxygen is depleted due to over pressure.
When does an amber half frame around oxygen pressure indicator appear and when does the text change to amber?
Half frame- if pressure drops below 1000psi or 1500 PSI (800 Neo)
Amber text- if pressure drops below 300psi.
Crew oxygen mask is usually set to 100%. What does N positon do?
Delivers a mixture of ambient air and oxygen, except above 35000ft.
How is cabin oxygen produced?
Oxygen generators provide oxygen from an internal chemical reaction. This provides positive pressure oxygen for about 15 minutes.
Oxygen generators generate considerable heat and may also produce light smoke and odours.
What does the red disk on left rear of fuselage indicate?
Normal indication of APU fire bottle.
If red disk is missing, agent has been discharged overboard due to bottle over pressure.
How is an APU ground fire indicated outside the aircraft and what happens?
-external warning horn sounds.
-APU FIRE light on External Power panel illuminates.
The APU will automatically shut down and fire bottle will automatically discharge.
Why must batteries be left on when APU is operated on the ground?
To ensure power is available to discharge fire bottle if APU shuts down while it is the sole source of power.
How does the lavatory auto fire extinguishing system operate?
If a sudden temperature rise is sensed, the small halon fire bottle will discharge automatically.
No flight deck or cabin indications.
Where is smoke detector located in avionics ventilation system?
Prior to extract fan- ensures that smoke passes over detector before exiting.
How many fire detection loops and fire detectors per engine and APU?
2 identical loops (A & B)
Each connected to 3 detectors per engine- 1 in pylon nacelle, 1 in core, 1 in fan section.
1 fire detector in APU compartment.
Under what conditions will FDU trigger a warning?
-both loops subject to heat.
-one loop subject to heat with other inoperative.
-both loops declared inoperative within 5 seconds.
How many extinguishers for engines and APU?
2 extinguishers per engine.
1 for APU.
