Oxygen And Fire Protection Flashcards

1
Q

How many portable oxygen bottles are located in cabin and how much oxygen will they supply?

A

5- two in front left of cabin and three in aft left side of cabin.

Q

Where is the crew oxygen cylinder relief port and what does the green disc indicate?

A

Left forward side of aircraft exterior.
Green disc should be flush with exterior. If absent, indicates crew oxygen is depleted due to over pressure.

Q

When does an amber half frame around oxygen pressure indicator appear and when does the text change to amber?

A

Half frame- if pressure drops below 1000psi or 1500 PSI (800 Neo)
Amber text- if pressure drops below 300psi.

7
Q

How is cabin oxygen produced?

A

Oxygen generators provide oxygen from an internal chemical reaction. This provides positive pressure oxygen for about 15 minutes.

Oxygen generators generate considerable heat and may also produce light smoke and odours.

Q

What does the red disk on left rear of fuselage indicate?

A

Normal indication of APU fire bottle.

If red disk is missing, agent has been discharged overboard due to bottle over pressure.

9
Q

How is an APU ground fire indicated outside the aircraft and what happens?

A

-external warning horn sounds.
-APU FIRE light on External Power panel illuminates.

The APU will automatically shut down and fire bottle will automatically discharge.

Q

Why must batteries be left on when APU is operated on the ground?

A

To ensure power is available to discharge fire bottle if APU shuts down while it is the sole source of power.

16
Q

Can ground crew shut off APU?

A

Yes- APU shutoff located on external power panel.

17
Q

How many smoke detectors per lavatory and where is indication displayed?

A

1 detector per lavatory.

Lavatory smoke is indicated in cockpit, however the lavatory with smoke is only indicated in cabin.

18
Q

How many smoke detectors per cargo compartment?

A

2 detectors (1 cavity) in forward cargo.
4 detectors (2 cavities) in aft.

19
Q

Which loops are cargo extinguishers linked to and when will warning be displayed?

A

Each detector per cavity linked to one of two detection loops.

Both detectors per cavity must sense smoke particles (unless one inoperative).

20
Q

How many fire extinguishers supply cargo compartments together and how many nozzles per compartment?

A

2 extinguishers (optional can be 1).

1 nozzle in fwd compartment, 2 in aft compartment.

21
Q

What happens when cargo compartment bottles discharged?

A

-Bottle 1 discharges in about 60 seconds.
-After about 1 hour, bottle 2 light comes on to discharge.
-bottle 2 discharges slowly in about 90 minutes.

This process allows coverage for approximately 205 minutes.
