Navigation Flashcards
How is each ADIRU powered?
Normally 115V AC, and a backup 28V DC power source.
*when an ADIRU is selected to NAV, it is connected to battery to test backup power. ON BAT will illuminate for 5 seconds.
*ADIRU 1 receives power from AC Essential Bus (powered in emergency electrical configuration), while 2 and 3 are on main AC Buses.
How long will ADIRU 2 and 3 remain on battery if power cannot be restored to main AC buses?
5 minutes.
Then ADIRU 2 and 3 are disconnected from battery and remain unpowered.
How is a IRU fast alignment achieved?
Move mode selector to OFF and back to NAV within 5 seconds.
*IRU will determine if a fast alignment is possible and if not will automatically initiate a full alignment,
The managed speed for TAKEOFF phase is SRS (Speed Reference System). What does this equate to?
V2 plus 10kts for both engines running.
V2 for single engine (or current speed if it is higher but no more than V2 +15.
(magenta triangle indicates V2 in all cases).
The GO Around speed target is VAPP, or current speed if higher, limited to VLS +15 kt.
What is green dot speed?
The slowest speed the aircraft should fly in the clean configuration (with APPROACH phase activated and gear and flap retracted).
Engine-out operating speed in clean configuration.
Best lift-to-drag ratio speed.
Also corresponds to the final takeoff speed.
Below 15 000 ft AAL, equal to 1.5 × weight (metric tons) +110.
At or below 10 000 ft AAL, Green Dot speed is limited to a maximum of 250 kt.
What happens to MIX IRS if an IRS fails?
MIX position is not computed. Each FMGC uses it’s associated IRS position.
*IRS 3 is automatically substituted for a failure of 1 or 2.
When does FMGC position takeoff update occur?
When FLEX or TOGA thrust is set, FMGC position is automatically updated to the end of the entered runway.
*if an intersection takeoff is desired, a takeoff shift must be entered (only applicable to aircraft WITHOUT a functioning GPS)
Information from Multi-Mode Receiver 1 (MMR1) is sent to which displays?
CA’s PFD and FO’s ND.
What does a Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR) consist of?
ILS and GPS contained within one unit.
