Tissues Flashcards
- A group of cells that usually have a common origin in an embryo and function together to carry out specialized functions.
Tissues
What are the Four Types of Tissues?
- Connective Tissue
- Epithelial Tissue
- Muscle Tissue
- Nervous Tissue
Types of Tissue:
1. Tissue that cover the body surfaces, and lines hollow organs, body cavities and ducts.
2. Allows the body to interact with both its internal and external environment.
Epithelial Tissue
Types of Tissue:
1. Tissue that protects and supports the body and its organs.
2. Binds organs together, store energy reserves as fat, and help provide the body with immunity to disease-causing organisms.
Connective Tissue
Types of Tissue:
1. Composed of cells specialized for contraction and generation of force.
Muscular Tissue
Types of Tissue:
1. Tissues that detect changes in a variety of conditions inside and outside the body and responds by generating electrical signals.
Nervous Tissue
