What are the x-ray findings of left and right diaphragm hernias?
Right - elevation of diaphragm, loss of contour and left shift of mediastinum
Left - diaphragm elevation, hollow viscera in thorax, discontinuous diaphragm contour, contralateral mediational shift, ngt in thorax
Radiology signs of aortic rupture.
Widening of mediastinum ( width more than 8cm above carina, 25 percent of chest)
Blurring of contours of aortic arch
Left apical pleural cap
Deviation of trachea and ngt to right with depression of left mainstem bronchus
Widening of right paratracheal stripe and paraspinal lines
Name pulmonary and extrapulmonary causes for ARDS
Pulmonary - contusion, aspiration, smoke inhalation, near drowning, pneumonia, abscess
Extrapulmonary - iatrogenic, burns, hypovolemia, hypoperfusion, massive blood transfusion, systemic sepsis
