Liver Flashcards
What is the HU of liver?
54 - 60
Name causes of fatty liver infiltration.
Acute and chronic alcohol
Obesity
Diabetes
Cystic fibrosis
Malnourishment
Steroids
What lobes are commonly affected by cirrhosis?
Atrophy - posterior (6 and 7)
Hypertrophy - 1 and 2 and 3
Causes of aerobilia.
Sphincteroctomy, roux loop procedure
Causes of gas in portal vein
nEC, gastric emphysema, volvulus, infections, Crohn’s, blunt abdo trauma, invasive abdo malignancies, ERCP duodenal Perfs, colitis following a barium enema
Causes of parenchymal gas.
Abscess, infarct, trauma hepatic arterial thrombosis
What are the ultrasound findings of cysts in liver?
Spherical homogeno structure with imperceptible wall, lack of internal echoes, absences if internal flow on doppler and posterior enhancement.
Can be mimicked by ovarian mets or hydatid
What is the differential diagnosis of cysts in the liver?
Haem cyst, abscess cystic mets, biliary cystadenoma, cystadenoca, hyatid
Ct findings of liver cyst.
Homo, imperceptible wall, attenuation of 0 to 10 HU. No enhancement of iv contrast medium
What are the radiological signs of liver nets?
US - Homo and increased/decrease reflectivity. Surrounding rim of reduced reflectivity giving a target appearance
CT - low attenuation on unenhanced images. Hypervascualr rumours enhance in arterial phase
Name causes of portal vein thrombosis
Hepatic cirrhosis, infections, pancreatitis, NEC, tumours, trauma, coagulopathy or surgery
