Joint Diseases Flashcards
What are the x-ray findings of primary OA?
Joint space narrowing, subchondral bony sclerosis, osteophyte formation, bone cysts and collapse, gross deformity with subluxation, loose bodies, fibrocartilage calcification
What are the x-ray features of RA?
Periarticular osteoporosis, soft tissue swelling, erosions, joint space narrowing, subchondral cyst, joint subluxation, generalized osteoporosis
What are the x-ray findings of gout?
acute attacks, crystal shedding is associated with an intense inflammatory response and a joint effusion, but this pattern is not observed radiologically. Radiological findings occur only in chronic tophaceous gout, where typical erosions associated with eccentric soft tissue swellings are the hallmarks of the disease. The joints most often involved are the first metatarsophalangeal joints, the foot, hand, ankle, wrist, elbow and knee. Although destructive changes are seen in only approximately half of the patients, the degree of destruction can be severe.
