Skeletal Trauma Flashcards
What are common sites for stress fractures?
Metatarsal shafts, pubic rami, femoral neck, tibfib shafts, calcaneus tuberosity
What are the ultrasound and MRI findings of tendon injuries?
MRI - Grade I injury, or mild sprain, is described as abnormal increased signal around an otherwise normalappearing ligament. Grade II injury is consistent with a severe sprain and demonstrates abnormal thickening and/or abnormal signal within the ligament. Grade III injury represents a complete disruption of the ligament.
US - Tears are demonstrated as a hypoechoic gap in the tendon, often with fluid in the tendon sheath. Tendinitis is seen as increased thickness of the tendon with altered echogenicity, either focally or diffusely.
