Thermistors Flashcards
1
Q
What happens to the resistance of a thermistor?
A
- Resistance of a thermistor decreases when the temperature increases.
2
Q
What does the graph look like?
A
- high temperatures= Low resistance.
- Low temperatures= High resistance. `
2
Q
What does the graph look like?
A
- high temperatures= Low resistance.
- Low temperatures= High resistance. `

Q
What happens under cool conditions in a computer?a
A
- Resistance of thermistor is high.
- Takes alot of energy to allow the current drive through the resistor: Potential difference is high in the thermistor.
- Potential difference is shared so:
- PD across the fan is low so operates very slow.

Q
What happens under hot conditions in a computer?a
A
- Hot conditions= Resistance in thermistor is low.
- Not alot of energy is needed to drive the current through the thermistort.
- Potential difference:
- Across thermistor= low.
-Across fan= high (so works at fast rates).
