Resistors in series circuits Flashcards
1
Q
What are resistors in series like?
A
- In series adds together.
- Current has to pass through each resistor in turn.
- It cannot bypass any resistor.
- Could replace the individual resistors with one.
- Equiavalent resistance
2
Q
What are resistors like in parallel circuits?
A
- The total resistance of two resistors in parallel:
- Less than the resistance of the smallest individual resistor.
3
Q
Reason?
A
- More than one pathway for current to take.
- More total current will flow through the circuit.
- If current has increased but P.d has not changed:
- total Resistance decreases.
