What do we do?

1) Use voltmeter to read the potential difference across the resistor.
2) Use the ammeter to read the current through the resistor.
RECORD VALUES ON A TABLE.
3) Adjust the variable resistor and record the nw readings on the voltmeter and ammeter.
DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES FOR A RANGE OF READINGS.
4) switch direction of battery direction of P.d is in reverse.
VOLT METER + AMMETER SHOULD HAVE NEGATIVE READINGS + CONTINUE TO TAKE SEVERAL READINGS OF PD AND CURRENT.

What does the graph look like when plotted?

• Straight line passing 0.
• Current through resistor is directly porportional to the potential difference.
• Ohmic conductor.
• ## If we change the direction of the P.D we still get a straight line passing 0.
