A

- Act of Attainder (find him guilty without trial)
- charles feared for his own life / reluctantly signed DEATH WARRANT

A

autumn 1641, news of Catholic massacres of protestants in Ireland reached England
- Anti catholic propaganda spread
- parliaments expects Charles to raise army against catholics by does nothing

Jan 1642, Charles suspected that Pym was plotting with Scots
- marched to parliament with 200 soldiers to arrest Pym/ 4 others for High Treason (but had alr left before he got there -FAILED)
