It’s a stone that’s stronger and heavier than Flint that was used to make tools during this period.

What is wattle and daub
This is when mud and straw are plastered over walls , woven with branches, to keep holes covered
What is a court cairn
This is the earliest type of megalithic tomb. It looks like a mound of stones with an open passage at the entrance.
Explain a dolmen
A tomb made of upright stones and a capstone
What is a capstone
A large flat stone that lies on top of a dolmen
What are passage tombs
Pfrom the outside the tombs look like a hill or a mound of earth. Inside there is a long passage leading to a chamber where remains have been found
Quern stone is what?
It was used to grind grain into flour. It consists of one stone on top of the other. The bottom stone stays put and the top stone moves with a wooden handle. The grain is put in between the two stones
What started to happen in the Neolithic era
People started to settle in one place and farming came to ireland. Because of farming people used better tools.
The Mesolithic era was how many years ago?
9000 years
What does the Mesolithic period mean
When hunter gathers used stone tools to hunt.
What are hunter gatherers
People who get food by hunting animals and foraging for berries and nuts.

Making clothes and pottery
